Mumbai, Nov 30 (LatestNewsX) – Actress Richa Chadha, who’s known for her fearless attitude and for never shying away from saying what she thinks, admitted that she wasn’t always this way before hard work helped her shift her mindset.
Richa talked about her younger days, explaining that she used to be a pushover in her twenties. When she says, “The person that you see today, who is ‘bindaas’ and confident, and bold, all those adjectives that have been added to my name in the public, I wasn’t always like this,” she’s reflecting on how far she’s come.
She gave a specific example. “In my 20s, I was such a pushover that one day I woke up on set and I was like, ‘When did I sign this movie? What happened? Why am I doing this item‑song kind of gyration?’ The director was telling me I need a male choreographer, and I was supposed to do thrusts, and I was thinking, ‘Who are these people? What is going on?’” Richa recounts.
The actress highlighted how constant judgment can shape an actor’s choices. “I realised somebody would just come on stage like a manager, telling you what to do and you would think, ‘Okay, this is what I should be doing,’ and you won’t be doing this, this is the way I should perform. All the while they’re rating you – maybe your lips, maybe your face – and you’re told to stop drinking water, stop eating salt.” This is how the industry made her feel.
Richa, known for “Heeramandi,” admitted she had complied with many of these demands, often at great cost to her body and psyche. “I want to say, I’ve done those things, and I’ve done them, and I’ve cursed myself, and I’ve beaten up my body, and I’ve bashed my mind, and I’ve been like, ‘I suck, this is so terrible,’ but the world does that,” she concludes.
