Mumbai, Oct 25 () – Actor–director Riteish Deshmukh showed his fans the stunning Sahyadri mountains in a video he posted to Instagram Stories. The mist‑covered hills and green forests form the backdrop for his upcoming Marathi historical epic, “Raja Shivaji,” and the clips let fans catch a glimpse of the film’s shooting locations.

Riteish is filming “Raja Shivaji” in the Sahyadri range to bring the story of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to life. The project marks his return to Marathi cinema after the success of “Ved” and “Lai Bhaari.” He chose the mountains because they echo the grandeur and spirit of the legendary king.

Because the shoot keeps him busy, Riteish told his followers this year he couldn’t celebrate Diwali in his hometown of Latur with his family. Instead, the actor shared a heartwarming clip of his Diwali celebrations in Mumbai with his wife Genelia D’Souza and their two sons, Riaan and Raahyl.

In the video, Riteish can be seen applying milk, tappan (ghee) and oil to his boys as part of the traditional Diwali rituals. The children later help make colourful rangoli patterns, and Genelia performs the aarti for her sons. The family even reversed roles for a sweet moment: Riteish and the boys perform Genelia’s aarti while the kids bow to their mother for blessings. The clip ends with the four of them wishing viewers a happy Diwali and a happy Padwa.

Alongside the video, Riteish posted handwritten letters from his sons. One message read, “Hi Baba! Happy Diwali! Hope you’re having a good time on set. We miss you for the Diwali lunch, but we know you’re doing something you love. Wish the film success.” Another note said, “Hi, Baba! I know you’re working hard for us. Today is Diwali, but I hope the light reaches you. The Diwali lunch will never be the same without you. Have a great day at the shoot. Love, Rayo Payo.”

Riteish shared that “nothing beats receiving letters from your kids on Diwali day,” adding that shooting “Raja Shivaji” is special, but the letters make the journey even more memorable.
