Pakistani forces abduct another civilian in Balochistan, rights body raise alarm

Quetta, Nov 8 – A fifth Baloch civilian has vanished after Pakistani security forces allegedly seized him in Balochistan, a human‑rights group says. The disappearance happens amid a sharp rise in enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and torture reports across the province.

Paank, the human‑rights department of the Baloch National Movement, announced on Saturday that Faraz Ahmed, a 32‑year‑old resident of Peer Muhammad Bazaar in Panjgur District, was taken from Quetta’s Satellite Town on November 5. “We stand with his family and demand an immediate, transparent investigation that follows both national rules and international standards,” Paank told reporters.

The group added that four other Baloch civilians disappeared in the last week:

Paank said these detentions violate the human‑rights treaties Pakistan signed, urging the United Nations and its Working Group on Enforced and Involuntary Disappearances to intervene. The group warns that continued silence risks further abuse and destabilises an already tense region.

The latest case adds to a troubling pattern of disappearances that pressure the Pakistani government to step up accountability and protect the rights of the Baloch population. Activists call for prompt investigations, guaranteed safety for victims’ families, and transparent legal processes. The international community watches closely as the issue escalates.
