Mumbai, Oct 20 – Bollywood actor Saanand Verma, best known from the hit series Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain, shared a candid look at his childhood and how the festival of lights shaped his outlook this Diwali.
In a sit‑down with , Verma recalled a time when even the smallest Diwali trinket— a diya—was a luxury for his family. “We never had money for diyas,” he said. “My mom would light an incense stick instead.” He admitted that those days left him feeling sad, but he now says he has moved past that negativity. “I believe that faith in Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha can help you overcome any darkness,” Verma told reporters.
The actor emphasized that gratitude matters every day, not just once a year. “I don’t wait for Diwali to thank God,” he said. “I’m grateful every day for what I have.” He added that the festival’s light reminds us that no darkness lasts forever, infusing hope, optimism, and positivity—even during tough times.
When asked about his own Diwali celebrations, Verma described a simple, family‑centric ritual. He keeps it low‑impact by using sparklers and eco‑friendly crackers. “I wear new clothes, pray to the deities, and try to spread happiness,” he said. “Diwali is about light triumphing over darkness.”
Verma also spoke of the pride he feels for India’s vibrant culture. “It’s believed that Lord Rama returned home on this day,” he said. “The sense of homecoming, purity, and togetherness fills the air during Diwali. It reminds us how blessed we are as humans and how powerful faith can be.”
He closed by saying his inner darkness has vanished. “I’m a happy soul now,” Verma said. “Whether I have money or not, I don’t need a reason to smile—God gives me the strength to find joy in everything.”
