Sumeet Raghvan, the actor who played Sahil Sarabhai in the cult‑classic Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai, shared a heartfelt video honoring his late co‑star Satish Shah. In the clip, the Mumbai‑based star called Shah “Kaka,” a term of affection he used on and off the set.
Sumeet began by recalling the show’s debut in 2004. “We started the series and wrapped it up after 70 episodes,” he said. “Now, 21 years later, it’s a rhythm people still live by.” He noted how fans instantly connect with the characters: “People come up to us and say, ‘I’m the Sahil of my house,’ or ‘I’m Roshesh,’ or ‘my wife behaves just like Monisha,’” he explained. “No one has ever called the dad of a family ‘Indravadan’; only Satish Kaka ever did.”
The actor highlighted the closeness that grew as the show’s popularity surged. “When the cast met,” he shared, “we weren’t just Sumeet, Rupali, or Rajesh. We embraced each other as Sahil, Monisha, Roshesh, Dad, and Mom.” That bond made the loss of Satish particularly painful.
Sumeet said Shah had been battling illness for some time, and strikingly, the reality of “life can be cruel” hit the family hard. In his touching message, the actor accepted condolences from fans as the elder son of the fictional Sarabhai house.
“Thank you to everyone who has sent their sympathies,” Sumeet wrote. “As the eldest son, I accept them. Dad, I just want to say — safe travels, Dad. See you on the other side.”
The post ended with a personal note, “Love you Satish Kaka…Love you Dad…We all love you and miss you, Indravadan Sarabhai.” The video and caption trended quickly under #sarabhaivssarabhai and #indravadansarabhai, reminding millions of the lasting impact of Satish Shah’s legacy on Indian television.
