Fans of the hit horror-comedy Stree have exciting news to celebrate: An animated spin-off called Chhoti Stree is coming soon. Bollywood star Shraddha Kapoor dropped the announcement on Friday during the trailer launch for the upcoming Maddock Films movie Thamma in Mumbai.
Shraddha, who stars in the original Stree alongside Rajkummar Rao, called Chhoti Stree her favorite piece of the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe. She shared the update while praising producer Dinesh Vijan, joking that his company should really be named “Dinesh Vision.” “Guys, the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe is bringing out Chhoti Stree as an animated film,” she said. “It’ll hit theaters for everyone—for kids, for families. I think it’s going to be a blast. And there are so many exciting things ahead for Indian cinema.”
According to Shraddha, the animated Chhoti Stree will release in theaters before the much-anticipated Stree 3. She added that being part of this universe feels incredible, especially since families can watch Stree together—kids and adults alike. Directors Amar Kaushik and writer Niren Bhatt have crafted it in a fun way: The story transitions from animation to live-action at the end, featuring a scene from Stree 3. It even reveals the backstory fans have been waiting for, without making anyone wait too long. “It will come six months before Stree 3,” Shraddha explained.
In the meantime, all eyes are on Thamma, set to release in theaters on October 21. The film stars Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Paresh Rawal. Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik produce it under Maddock Films, with a script by Niren Bhatt, Suresh Mathew, and Arun Fulara. Aditya Sarpotdar, known for directing the popular Munjya, helms the project.
This expansion of the Stree franchise and the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe promises more thrills and laughs for Bollywood audiences. ()
