Mumbai, August 4 — Actress Shraddha Kapoor celebrated her father, veteran actor Shakti Kapoor’s birthday in a fun and nostalgic way. To mark the special day, Shraddha watched the classic 1997 comedy-drama Hero No. 1 with her dad and called it “Baapu birthday dhamaal” on Instagram.
Early Thursday morning, Shraddha shared a cute video on her Instagram stories. In the clip, she’s seen laughing and enjoying the film with her father, who is also watching the movie beside her. She captioned the video, “Watch till end to see who else is watching. Baapu birthday dhamaal @shaktikapoor.” The video shows both of them having a good time reliving a favorite Bollywood comedy.
Hero No. 1 is directed by David Dhawan and stars Govinda and Karisma Kapoor. The movie is a fun story about a wealthy heir who pretends to be a jack-of-all-trades — doing chores, singing, and dancing — all for love. The film is inspired by the classic Hrishikesh Mukherjee movie Bawarchi and was also remade into Telugu as Goppinti Alludu.
Shakti Kapoor is a legendary actor with over 700 film credits. He was famous in the 80s and 90s for his comedic and villainous roles, often teaming up with actors Asrani and Kader Khan. His recent appearance was in the blockbuster Animal alongside Ranbir Kapoor, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga.
On the work front, Shraddha is busy with exciting new projects. She has teamed up with director Laxman Utekar for a period drama backed by producer Dinesh Vijan, expected to start shooting in November and release around 2026. She’s also signed a multi-film deal with producer Ektaa Kapoor. Rumors suggest her first film under this deal might be a reunion with her Aashiqui co-star Aditya Roy Kapoor.
In addition, Shraddha is eyeing other projects like an untitled drama with Tumbbad director Rahi Anil Barve and a possible role in the next Dhoom franchise installment. She is also reportedly in talks to share the screen once again with Ranbir Kapoor in her upcoming movie.
