Sofia Vergara’s sister talks about being compared to family and ‘Selling Sunset’ fame
Sandra Vergara feels the weight of the name “Vergara,” but she’s proud of the difference between her own path and that of her sister‑in‑law and adopted sister, Sofia Vergara. In a recent interview with Fox News Digital, the luxury real‑estate agent explained how people inevitably compare her to the famous actress, yet she wants fans to see her own brand.
“Everyone keeps asking if I’m living up to the Vergara name,” Sandra said, laughing. “It’s natural — the name is huge. But I’m doing something completely different. The comparison is part of it; it’s not a bad thing.” She added that Sofia helped her move to Los Angeles years ago, supporting her as she hit her own milestones.
Sandra made her splash in the real‑estate world by joining Netflix’s hit series Selling Sunset for Season 9. She didn’t tell Sofia her new role, but she shared the news with her son, Manolo, who’s 34. “Manolo told me ‘You have to do it,’” Sandra recalled, “So I signed up. Then I told everyone else, and they all cheered.”
The house‑buying drama on Selling Sunset is a big part, but Sandra said she’s here to keep peace. “If we can get along in the office and stay harmonious, we’ll all rise together,” she explained. “There’s a long backstory, but we want harmony moving forward.”
Before real estate, Sandra worked as an entertainment journalist and actress. She said a tough breakup pushed her into a completely new career. “When Netflix reached out, I was ready for a challenge. The breakup forced me to get out of a funk, and entering real‑estate worked for me,” she shared.
Sofia has already given Sandra the best piece of advice: confidence. “Know who you are, own it, and show up with belief,” Sandra said. “That’s what makes things happen.”
Fans can catch Sandra in her own light on Selling Sunset season 9, which premiered on Netflix on Oct. 29. She also hinted that Sofia might one day appear on the show if she decides to sell a property—bringing the family dynamic right into the spotlight.
