On December 1 in Mumbai, legendary playback singer Udit Narayan marked his 70th birthday, surrounded by a host of Bollywood peers and celebrated singers such as Shaan and Sonu Nigam.
Shaan later shared several clips of the celebration on his social media. He posted, “Happy Birthday @uditnarayanmusic!!! Had the pleasure of celebrating Udit Ji’s 70th (though he looks only 45) birthday with the #ISAMRA family!! So much fun,” and added a red heart, star and folded hands to the post.
In the footage, Sonu Nigam, Shaan and the rest of the crew performed a lively birthday tribute for the veteran artist. For those who may not be familiar, Narayan has earned four National Film Awards and was honoured with the Padma Shri in 2009 and the Padma Bhushan in 2016 for his outstanding contributions to Indian arts and culture.
What many fans might not know is that Narayan got his start working alongside music legend Mohammed Rafi on the 1980 hit “Unees‑Bees,” and later recorded with Kishore Kumar through the 1980s. He truly broke through in 1988 with the blockbuster “Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak,” and the 1990s saw him deliver a string of chart‑topping songs in both Hindi and Nepali.
Some of his most iconic tracks include “Pehla Nasha,” “Papa Kehte Hai,” “Dil To Pagal Hai,” “Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai,” “Chand Chhupa Badal Mein,” “Hum Tum,” “Dil Ne Yeh Kaha Hai Dil Se,” and “Tumse Milke Dil Ka.”
Meanwhile, popular singer Shaan and his wife, the actress Radhika Mukherjee, recently celebrated 25 years of marriage. To celebrate the milestone, the couple hosted an intimate gathering attended by family, friends and industry peers. Highlights of the night included a graceful dance between the newlyweds, Shaan’s live performance for the guests, and a touching duet from their son Maahi.
Sharing the footage on his account, Shaan captioned the post:
“It was an unforgettable night!!! Family, friends, and fraternity!!! Thank you so much for your love and warm participation in the revelry and celebration.
