Mohanlal, the beloved star of Malayalam cinema, wasted no time heading home to Kerala after news broke that he’s the latest recipient of India’s top film honor, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Just a day after the announcement, the actor touched down at Kochi’s Nedumbassery airport and made a beeline for his residence, Sree Ganesh on Rajiv Nagar Road in Elamakkara, to get his mother’s blessings.

There, Mohanlal shared a heartfelt moment with his mom, Shanthakumari Amma, before heading to his flat in Kundannoor. Fans and well-wishers know how family means everything to him, and this visit turned his big win into a touching family affair.

At the airport, surrounded by mediapersons, Mohanlal opened up about the award, calling it a tribute to the entire Malayalam film industry and its loyal audiences. “This recognition is not just mine—it belongs to Malayalam cinema,” he said. “I dedicate the award to the industry that shaped me and to the people who have traveled with me through this 48-year journey.”

Looking emotional, the actor thanked God, his parents, his country, and the selection committee. “It’s the greatest joy of my life,” he added. “I thank God, my audience, my parents, and this nation for everything. Above all, I remember with love and prayers all those who walked with me during these years.”

Mohanlal described the moment as one of immense pride and said he hopes it lights a fire under the next generation of filmmakers and actors. “This should encourage the next generation to dream bigger and work harder,” he shared. “I wish Malayalam cinema continues to achieve greater things.”

With a career that’s lasted almost five decades, Mohanlal has starred in more than 400 films across languages like Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi. He’s not just a box-office king—he’s earned rave reviews for his versatile roles on screen and stage, making him one of India’s most celebrated performers in Indian cinema.

Returning to Kerala felt right for Mohanlal, who turned this professional milestone into a personal celebration of gratitude, love, and his rich legacy in Malayalam movies.
