In a unique and heartwarming twist this Ganesh Chaturthi, devotees in Mumbai are not just visiting traditional Ganpati idols. Instead, Lord Ganesha himself is making a special journey across the city on a double-decker open-top bus! This innovative way of blessing Mumbai has caught everyone’s attention and added a new excitement to the festivities.
During his tour, Ganpati Bappa stopped at the famous Gokuldham Society, home to the popular TV show “Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.” The cast and crew of the show were pleasantly surprised to see their beloved Lord Ganesha visiting their society. Actor Dilip Joshi, who plays Jethalal, shared his happiness, saying, “It felt wonderful to have Ganpati Bappa visit us. He is like a moving Ganpati — a true blessing for Mumbai. We performed the arti with full devotion.”
Show producer Asit Kumarr Modi also expressed his delight, saying, “Ganpati Bappa came to us, and it felt so special. He is the ‘Setha’ of Mumbai — the big boss among gods. We consider ourselves blessed to get his darshan.”
Many fans and celebrities appreciated this new way of celebrating Ganpati. Tanuj Mahashabde, who plays Iyer, praised the smart idea, especially considering Mumbai’s heavy traffic during the festival. “I’ve never seen something like this before. This concept should be copied everywhere, especially in Mumbai where traffic can make visiting temples difficult,” he said.
Mumbai Police’s efforts during Ganesh Chaturthi also got praise. Tanuj added, “Thanks to the Mumbai Police for managing the festival so smoothly. Their dedication makes celebrations safer and easier.”
When asked if Ganpati Bappa has helped him with personal problems, Dilip Joshi joked, “We don’t share all our problems on TV, but we told Bappa our worries — right in the ear of his vahan (vehicle).” Asit chimed in humorously, “Maybe Daya Bhabhi should come now; after all, we’ve told Bappa everything!”
This creative celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi highlights Mumbai’s festive spirit and devotion in a fun, modern way. With Lord Ganesha blessing the city on this special journey, it’s a festival to remember!
