‘The Bengal Files’ suffers setback with pending censor approval in key international market

Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri’s much-anticipated film, The Bengal Files, is facing some unexpected delays in its international release. Fans around the world will have to wait a little longer to watch this latest project.

Originally set to release on September 5, the film won’t be hitting screens in several key countries just yet. The reason? Delays in getting approval from local censorship authorities.

In Mauritius, the film hasn’t received the go-ahead from the censor board yet. The decision is still pending, so the release there is on hold for now. Similarly, in regions like the UAE, Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong, The Bengal Files is undergoing review by local censorship officials. These countries have strict rules, especially for movies with political or social themes. Luckily, so far, no formal objections have been registered.

The film’s production faced a big setback earlier when the production designer, Rajat Poddar, suddenly passed away due to a cardiac arrest. Pallavi Joshi, who is both an actress and producer—and also Vivek Agnihotri’s wife—told that this was a huge loss for the team during the early stages of making the movie.

The Bengal Files is written by Vivek Agnihotri and produced by Abhishek Agarwal and Pallavi Joshi. The movie features well-known actors like Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi, Anupam Kher, and Darshan Kumar. It is part of Vivek’s Files trilogy, which also includes The Kashmir Files and The Tashkent Files. Fans can look forward to watching The Bengal Files in Indian theaters on September 5, 2025.

Stay tuned for updates on the release!
