Mumbai, September 4 — In a shocking development, television actor Ashish Kapoor has been arrested on charges of sexual assault. Delhi Police confirmed on September 3 that Kapoor was accused of raping a woman during a house party in Delhi last month.
According to police reports, Kapoor was initially on the run, moving through Goa before being tracked down and later found in Pune. Several police teams worked together in a coordinated effort to locate and arrest him.
The woman, who filed the complaint, said she met Kapoor on Instagram. She was invited to a friend’s house party in the second week of August. During the party, she accused Kapoor of sexually assaulting her inside a washroom. Police investigations revealed CCTV footage and witness statements showing Kapoor and the woman entering the washroom together and not coming out for some time.
When other guests knocked on the door, an argument broke out. The dispute continued to the society gate, where the woman alleged that she was assaulted by the host’s wife. The police said that it was the host’s wife who eventually called the police report (PCR).
Delhi Police’s Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) North, Raja Banthia, confirmed Kapoor’s arrest. The investigation is still ongoing.
Ashish Kapoor is a well-known TV actor who has appeared in popular serials like “Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai,” where he gained a lot of fame. Born on October 17, 1984, he has also featured in shows such as “Ssshhh…Phir Koi Hai,” “Sasural Simar Ka 2,” “Saath Phere – Saloni Ka Safar,” “Saraswati Chandra,” and “Molkki Rishton Ki Agnipariksha.”
The actor was engaged to producer Pearl Grey in 2021 but they split up after about a year.
