Mumbai, September 6 — Filmmaker Umesh Shukla, known for his love of situational comedy, is all set to release his new film ‘Ek Chatur Naar’. While he enjoys this style of humor, he emphasizes that he respects all types of comedy genres.
In an interview with , Umesh Shukla shared his thoughts on different forms of comedy. He said, “All comedies are good. Whether it’s slapstick, situational, or silent comedy — they all have their own charm. We have seen hilarious comedians over the years like Charlie Chaplin, Mr. Bean, Jim Carrey, and Indian stars like Mehmood, Johnny Lever, and Asrani. In my film, I focused on situational comedy.”
‘Ek Chatur Naar’ is a dark comedy thriller set in a quirky small-town India. The story revolves around a charming woman who appears naive but is actually clever and sharp-witted. She uses her intelligence to outsmart everyone around her, making the story both engaging and entertaining.
Umesh Shukla clarified that his film doesn’t feature slapstick humor. He said, “There’s no slapstick in this film, but that doesn’t mean it’s bad. Comedy is comedy, and I like comedy that is situational — similar to movies like ‘Hera Pheri’ or ‘Golmaal’, which are classics. I have always enjoyed films like ‘Padosan’, ‘Chalbaaz’, and ‘Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi’ that focus on fun and comedy.”
Actress and director Divya Khosla Kumar, who plays the female lead in ‘Ek Chatur Naar’, shared that comedy has always been her preferred genre. She told , “I feel like comedy is my true calling. I’ve always wanted to work in a funny film, and I’m grateful to finally get that opportunity. People might not know this side of me, but I have a natural comic touch.”
Produced by T-Series, ‘Ek Chatur Naar’ is scheduled to hit theaters on September 12, 2025. Fans of comedy and thrillers can look forward to this humorous and quirky film arriving soon!
