In Chennai on October 23, famed director Vetrimaaran kicked off the first shot of a new Tamil film that will see actor Ken Karunaas step behind the camera for the first time, much to the cheers of the crowd.
Ken Karunaas, who is best known for powerful roles in Asuran and Viduthalai 2, will both direct the movie and play its lead. The project, still untitled, is produced by Parvatha Entertainment and will also feature a host of familiar faces.
At the launch, star Karthi clapped the board for the opening frame, and the event was attended by other industry heavy‑weights such as Vishal, actor‑director R. J. Balaji, producers Kalaipuli S. Thanu and Dr. Isari K. Ganesh, and Vijay‑star Suraj Venjaramoodu.
The film’s ensemble includes Suraj Venjaramoodu, Anisma Anil Kumar, Meenakshi Dinesh, Priyanshi Yadav, and Devadarshini, who all have key roles.
Behind the scenes, Vicky will handle the cinematography, while National Award‑winner G V Prakash Kumar is set to score the music. Music editor Nash will cut the film, and art direction comes from Ramu Thangaraj. Costume design will be managed by Kavya Sriram, who has worked with Dhanush.
Set in a school backdrop, the film is being made on a substantial budget and is produced under the banners of Parvatha Entertainment and Street Boy Studio. The first shot, taken by Vetrimaaran himself, has already racked up goosebumps among the audience, signalling a strong start for Ken Karunaas’s new venture into direction and acting.
