Mumbai, Oct 27 – Filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra marked the 25th anniversary of his 2000 action‑thriller “Mission Kashmir,” a movie that still draws fans for its star‑packed cast and gripping story.
Chopra took to the Instagram page of Vidhu Vinod Chopra Films to celebrate the milestone. The post featured a carousel of photos from the original shoot, showing the director, Hrithik Rohit, Preity Zinta, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff and Sonali Kulkarni. A nostalgic track, “Rind Posh Maal,” played in the background, letting fans relive the film’s vibe.
In the caption, Chopra fired up the drama: “Revisit the timeless love of Altaaf and Sufiya… Their bond in Mission Kashmir taught us that even in deep sorrow, love is the ultimate mission worth fighting for. Celebrating 25 years of #MissionKashmir.” The story, set against the backdrop of Kashmir’s conflict, mixes themes of terrorism, revenge and the lingering trauma that war leaves on children.
The film follows Altaaf Khan, a young boy who finds his family killed in a mistaken police operation led by Inayat Khan. The officer who later adopts Altaaf turns out to be the man responsible for the tragedy. Blinded by grief, Altaaf leaves home, becomes radicalized, and years later returns with a plan that lands him squarely in the cross‑fire with his past.
Mission Kashmir remains a notable entry in Chopra’s filmography. He is well known for directing “Parinda,” “1942: A Love Story” and “12th Fail,” while producing hits such as the “Munna Bhāi,” “3 Idiots,” “PK” and “Sanju.” Under his banner, Vinod Chopra Films continues to churn out stories that resonate with a wide audience.
Recently, Chopra headed up “Zero se Restart,” which highlighted the teamwork and resilience needed to make cinema. He also directed “12th Fail,” a biopic based on Anurag Pathak’s 2019 book. The film tells the inspiring tale of IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma, who rose from extreme poverty to succeed in India’s toughest UPSC exam. Starring Vikrant, Medha Shankar, Anant Joshi, Anshumaan Pushkar and Priyanshu Chatterjee, the movie celebrates perseverance and the power of a fresh start.
With the 25th‑year celebration of “Mission Kashmir,” Vidhu Vinod Chopra reminds us that thrillers set in real conflict zones still captivate and that his work—from blockbuster hits to meaningful dramas—continues to echo with fans worldwide.
