Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt is grieving the loss of his mother, Varsha Bhatt, who passed away on September 6, 2025, at the age of 74. She had been battling a long illness for months, and Vikram shared the heartbreaking news on his Instagram, revealing that she’s now in a better place.
In an emotional post, the director of hits like Raaz opened up about his sorrow. "My mother Varsha Bhatt passed away on the morning of 6th September 2025. She was in pain for the last few months," he wrote. He described grief as a cycle that hits hard, like a sob stuck in your chest that eases briefly before returning stronger. "I know time will heal all wounds, but that time isn’t here yet," he added, wondering if it ever will.
Vikram expressed deep gratitude to everyone sharing his pain and included a touching prayer for his mother’s eternal peace:
Tvameva Mata Cha Pita Tvameva
Tvameva Bandhushcha Sakha Tvameva
Tvameva Vidya Dravinam Tvameva
Tvameva Sarvam Mama Deva Deva
He urged followers to say a prayer for her, calling it her virtual prayer meeting, and ended with "Om Shanti."
For context, Varsha Bhatt was married to renowned cinematographer Pravin Bhatt, whose work lit up Bollywood classics like Umrao Jaan, Sadak, Agneepath, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke, Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin, Masoom, Arth, Aashiqui, and Raaz. Our thoughts go out to Vikram and his family during this tough time.
