Vikrant Massey just won big at the National Awards, snagging the Best Actor honor for his standout role in “12th Fail.” The President of India handed him the prestigious award during a special ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Mumbai on Tuesday.
Massey couldn’t hide his excitement, calling the win “nothing short of surreal.” He opened up about the moment, saying, “Winning the National Award is the proudest moment of my life. It’s a dream that a 20-year-old boy once envisioned, and to see it come to fruition feels nothing short of surreal. Sharing this moment with my beloved mother and wife is another dream I am grateful to have realized today.”
The actor, who’s 38, also vowed to keep pushing himself. “If this serves as a testament to my dedication to the craft, I hope to continue being worthy of people’s time and trust — to better myself with each step, and to entertain as well as inform through the privileged platform of cinema and media that I am fortunate to be a part of,” he added.
In “12th Fail,” Massey brought the real-life IPS Officer Manoj Kumar Sharma to the screen with incredible authenticity, depth, and emotional power. Fans and critics raved about his performance, and the film itself struck a chord with audiences across India.
Earlier, Massey thanked viewers for the overwhelming love for “12th Fail.” “I am eternally grateful to the audiences for honouring my performances and for recommending this film with such love. It is a privilege to be sharing my first National Award with an icon like Shah Rukh Khan,” he said. Khan picked up the same Best Actor award for his role in the blockbuster “Jawan.”
Massey didn’t stop there—he dedicated his National Award to society’s overlooked heroes. “Lastly, I dedicate this award to all the marginalised people in our society — those who are often looked through, and those who are fighting the socio-economic paradigm of our country every single day,” he shared.
Looking ahead, Massey gears up for his next big role as spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in the upcoming biopic “White.” Bollywood fans can’t wait to see what he does next.
