In Chennai, producer‑actor Vishnu Vishal, who plays the lead in the hit Tamil psycho thriller “Aaryan,” urged fellow stars to cut their salaries at a thanksgiving event for the film.
The comment came after a journalist asked the actor what advice he would give other producers struggling at the box office. Vishnu said he would not speak to producers, but asked “heroes and artistes here to reduce their remuneration.” He explained that lower pay would free funds for better film production.
The suggestion was welcomed by many in the industry. Director‑producer S P Sakthivel tweeted the video of Vishnu’s answer, writing, “Finally, much‑needed change!”
“Aaryan” began screening in Tamil Nadu on Oct. 31, 2025, and will open in Telugu on Nov. 7. The film was produced by Vishnu Vishal Studioz with Shubhra and Aryan Ramesh, and directed by Praveen K. Co‑writer Manu Anand, who also directed “FIR,” helped craft the script.
Vishnu again plays a police officer, with Selvaraghavan, Shraddha Srinath and Maanasa Choudhary in key roles, and a supporting cast that includes Sai Ronak, Tarak Ponnappa, Mala Parvathi, Avinash and Abishek Joseph George.
The movie’s recent release features a slightly shorter climax, trimming the runtime by four to five minutes. Vishnu’s call for lower actor fees highlights growing discussion among Tamil film makers about budgeting and creative investment.
