Mumbai, Nov 23 – During the promotional blitz for 120 Bahadur, actor Vivan Bhathena told LatestNewsX that his fellow star Farhan Akhtar never took charge in a producer’s role on the shooting set. Bhathena said Farhan fully grasped the task at hand and dedicated himself entirely to acting.
“Farhan is not a producer on the set ever. He comes as an actor. In fact, we were also hoping that the producer side will come out somewhere, and we will get to see that. Nothing of that sort happened. He never interfered, never said a word. It was just himself busy with the character, did his part, asked the director if he needed to do anything else,” Bhathena recalled.
He went on to add, “He never unnecessarily interfered with anything or made any unnecessary suggestions. We would always ask him for guidance. He would always guide us in the right way and tell us not what to do, but how to feel. So, those are important…”.
The film pays tribute to the brave Ahir soldiers of Charlie Company, 13 Kumaon Regiment, who fell during the Battle of Rezang La in the 1962 Indo‑Sino conflict. Filmed amidst the stunning terrain of Ladakh, it draws heavily from actual events of that war. The 1962 clash stemmed from disputed borders along Aksai Chin near Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh. China’s road construction over Aksai Chin, a region India claimed, escalated tensions. Diplomatic talks broke down, and by October, Chinese troops launched a two‑front offensive.
India’s defeat was largely blamed on Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru’s reluctance to deploy air power and on inadequate military infrastructure along the frontiers. Meanwhile, the USSR—then a close partner—was unable to assist India, finding itself embroiled in the Cuban missile crisis during the Cold War.
