When Shah Rukh Khan surprised Himani Shivpuri by revealing he was a ‘junior artist’ in her movie

Mumbai, Nov 2 – Legendary actress Himani Shivpuri told a sweet story about meeting Shah Rukh Khan on his 60th birthday.
When the star celebrated his milestone Sunday, Shivpuri posted a nostalgic photo of the two and shared how their paths first crossed. “Surprise! Happy 60th, Shah Rukh! The first time we met, he mentioned that I was the heroine in ‘Where Annie Gives It Those Ones’ and that he had been a junior artist in that film,” she wrote. The film was actually a school‑era project directed by Pradeep Krishan for the National School of Drama, a fact that made Shivpuri laugh.
The veteran actress recalled the film’s set where she first spotted a young Shah Rukh, and how he struck up a conversation, surprised that she remembered the small‑budget project. “It was a humble beginning for him – Just a junior artist in a drama, and look at him now, the Badshah of Bollywood,” Shivpuri said.
The two later shared the screen in the iconic 1995 hit Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ). Shivpuri played Simran’s lovable aunt, Kammo, while Shah Rukh starred as Raj. Even though they didn’t always share a scene, Shivpuri remembered him giving her cues from behind the camera. “It’s that magic that makes him a King,” she added. “He was a guide, even when he wasn’t on the same frame.”
Shivpuri also called out Shah Rukh’s lifelong dedication to the craft. “He’s not just a star; he’s a artist who loves his work. Remember when he named me among the top ten actresses alongside icons like Meryl Streep, Madhuri Kumar, and Shridevi? That moment was unforgettable.”
The actress went on to thank the actor for his kindness. “May you keep ruling our hearts, Shah Rukh. God bless you!” she concluded.
Shivpuri’s story underlines how a career that started in a school‑era drama evolved into Bollywood’s most beloved superstar—a tale that resonates with every film fan.
