Star Rajinikanth has just sent a big shout‑out to film director Mari Selvaraj after seeing his new sports drama Bison. On the social‑media platform X, the superstar praised Selvaraj’s hard work and skill, saying, “Super Mari, Super! Watched Bison. Your hard work and proficiency in film after film impresses me. Congratulations Mari!”

Selvaraj was quick to thank the legend, writing that he received a phone call from Rajinikanth and that he and fellow director Pa Ranjith had also gained personal congratulations from the superstar for earlier projects like Pariyarum Perumal, Karnan, Maamannan and Vaazhai.

The Tamil film Bison, released earlier this month, has already turned into a blockbuster. It stars Dhruv Vikram as a determined Kabaddi player and Anupama Parameswaran in the lead. The story draws on real events to showcase a young man’s rise above a violent, troubled society, turning to sport for hope and greatness.

Other big names in Tamil cinema and politics have praised the film as well. Deputy Chief Minister and actor‑turned‑politician Udhayanidhi Stalin called Bison – Kaalamaadan a “powerful film.” He tweeted his thoughts after a pre‑premiere screening: “Have watched #Bison. Director @Mari_Selvaraj sir has once again delivered a powerful film.” He added, “Bison is a heartwarming sports drama about an Arjuna award–winning Kabaddi player who rises above a violent and troubled society. Mari sir captures the journey of a young man who places his faith in sport more than anything else, which ultimately leads him to greatness.”

Stalin also complimented Dhruv Vikram and the supporting cast, saying, “@DhruvVikram5 and the rest of the cast have delivered exceptional performances, deeply understanding what the story demanded from them. A big congratulations to the entire team of Bison – Kaalamaadan.”

Bison is produced by Applause Entertainment in partnership with Pa Ranjith’s Neelam Studios. The film’s cinematography is by Ezhil Arasu K., while Sakthi Thiru handles editing. The principal crew includes director Mari Selvaraj, producers Sameer Nair, Deepak Saigal, Pa Ranjith, and Aditi Anand. The supporting cast features Lal, Pasupathy, Rajisha Vijayan, Hari Krishnan, Azhagam Perumal, Aruvi Madhanand, and Kalaiyarasan.

With its vivid portrayal of the sport of Kabaddi and an inspirational storyline, Bison is gaining praise across Tamil Nadu and beyond. Fans and critics alike applaud the performances, especially Dhruv Vikram’s portrayal of a resilient athlete, and the film’s authentic depiction of sports culture in South India.

The wave of congratulations from Rajinikanth, Udhayanidhi Stalin, and other industry leaders highlights Bison’s growing impact in Tamil cinema. As the film continues to attract viewers, it is poised to cement Mari Selvaraj’s reputation as a filmmaker who turns true stories into compelling cinema.
