In Ahmedabad, the medical community has launched a new 24‑hour helpline to keep festival goers safe. The Ahmedabad Medical Association (AMA) and the Ahmedabad Family Physicians Association (AFPA) teamed up to launch the “Doctor on Call” Diwali Medical Helpline. The service is live from October 19 to October 26, covering the entire week of celebrations.

What the helpline offers

  • Immediate medical advice for any emergency or first‑aid question.
  • Guidance on common Diwali mishaps such as firecracker burns, smoke‑related breathing problems, heart‑related stress, accidental falls and food‑borne illnesses.
  • Calls are answered by volunteer doctors who are ready to help Ahmedabad residents around the clock.

How to get help

  • Dial the helpline number (available on the AMA website) whenever you need assistance.
  • Visit the AMA’s website at www.ahmedabadmedicalassociation.com for the full contact list and to check which doctors are on call.

The helpline is open to all Ahmedabad residents. By offering round‑the‑clock medical support during an event that sees a spike in accidents and health issues, the AMA and AFPA aim to keep the city’s Diwali celebrations safe.

This initiative joins other pre‑Diwali safety measures in Ahmedabad, ensuring that, even as fireworks light up the sky and food tables overflow, experts are just a call away for quick medical help.
