The Andhra Pradesh government has announced some major new decisions to improve healthcare, education, infrastructure, and more. Here’s a quick look at what’s happening:
Free Healthcare for Millions
The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet approved a new universal health policy aimed at providing free, quality treatment to around five crore people in the state. Under this scheme, insurance companies will cover medical expenses ranging from Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 5 lakh. Additionally, the NTR Vaidya Seva Trust will offer health coverage up to Rs 25 lakh for families below the poverty line (BPL).
Fast Medical Assistance
Patients admitted to hospitals will get approval for treatment within just six hours. A control room at the NTR Trust will monitor these free health services to make sure everyone gets timely care.
New Medical Colleges
The government plans to set up 10 new medical colleges in public-private partnership (PPP) mode. These colleges will be located in Adoni, Madanapalli, Markapuram, Pulivendula, Penugonda, Palacole, Amalapuram, Narsipatnam, Bapatla, and Parvatiuram. They will start accepting students from the 2027-28 academic year.
Supporting Education and Real Estate
The Cabinet also waived stamp duty on land allotted to schools and hospitals in Amaravati. They approved the regularization of over 59,000 unauthorized constructions and considered increasing the height limit for high-rise buildings from 18 meters to 24 meters.
Development Projects
In Mangalagiri, a land pooling scheme will benefit local goldsmiths by developing 78 acres in Atmakuru village. The government also plans to distribute 14.2 kg gas cylinders under the Deepam-2 scheme to around 23,912 families across 16 districts.
Promoting Investment
To boost the economy, the Cabinet approved land allotments proposed by various departments to attract investors. They also allocated Rs 5.7 crore for repairing and maintaining 392 irrigation structures. In Naidupet, electronics companies planning to invest Rs 1,595 crore will get 26.7 acres of land, creating over 2,000 new jobs.
Environment and Transport
A decision was made to reduce green tax on vehicles and introduce a bill in the Assembly for this change. The government also approved schemes to improve safe drinking water supply in rural areas.
Thanks to the Centre
The Cabinet expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for reducing GST on various goods, which benefits the middle class and poor. The government believes these new reforms will help improve living standards for future generations.
This is a big step forward for Andhra Pradesh, focusing on better healthcare, education, infrastructure, and economic growth.
