New Delhi – On World Food Day 2025, Union Minister of State for Ayush Prataprao Jadhav highlighted how Ayurveda Aahara can become a global part of everyday eating and help prevent lifestyle‑related illnesses. He said the ancient Indian food philosophy could bring a disease‑free future by balancing body, mind, and nature.
Ayurveda Aahara is more than just food—it’s a way of living that stresses harmony, wellness, and environmental care. The 2025 World Food Day theme, “Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future,” aligns closely with this traditional wisdom.
During the celebrations, the Ministry of Ayush reaffirmed India’s pledge to make nutrition healthier and planet‑friendly. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), together with the Ministry, has released a new, official list of Category A Ayurveda Aahara products. This first comprehensive guide draws on classic Ayurvedic texts and gives manufacturers a clear standard to follow.
By partnering with FSSAI, the government hopes to boost confidence in Ayurvedic nutrition worldwide. The launch of the list is expected to spur growth, improve quality, and reassure consumers that the food they eat is safe and authentic.
India’s own food culture, such as the varied and balanced Indian thali, is already receiving global praise for its nutritional value and environmental sustainability. The new list will give makers clarity and give shoppers trust, said Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush.
Kotecha also noted that the initiative could spark innovation and help small startups tap into the booming health‑food market. Many diet‑ and lifestyle‑related disorders drive non‑communicable diseases, and Ayurveda’s age‑old wisdom could offer a counter‑balance.
Professor Anupam Srivastava from the National Institute of Ayurveda, Jaipur, added that weaving Ayurvedic dietary principles into mainstream policy shows the world how traditional knowledge can guide mindful, sustainable eating. He praised the partnership between Ayush and FSSAI as a model of “hand in hand” collaboration for a healthier future.
