In Bilaspur near Lal Khand, a deadly train crash on November 4 left 11 people dead and 20 injured—many in critical condition.
Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao travelled through the city’s hospitals on Wednesday, speaking face‑to‑face with patients and their families. He offered words of comfort and urged fast, quality treatment for all victims.
Sao met doctors and hospital leaders to press for “the best possible medical care without delay.” He was joined by key local officials: Mayor Pooja Vidhani, Collector Sanjay Agarwal, Police Superintendent Rajnesh Singh, Municipal Commissioner Amit Kumar, and District Panchayat CEO Sandeep Agarwal. Together they showed the state’s commitment to care and quick response.
The accident happened when a Gevra Road‑Bilaspur MEMU local train collided with a stationary goods train. The impact crushed the lead coach against the goods train’s brake van, causing the fatalities and extensive injuries that still ripple through the community.
Rescue squads worked hard through the night, pulling survivors from the wreckage. In statements to the press, Sao expressed deep sorrow and promised the government would quickly provide compensation and rehabilitation while pursuing accountability for the crash.
This incident remains one of the worst rail disasters in Chhattisgarh this year, underscoring the urgent need for stronger safety measures and swift emergency care.
