Gujarat HM Sanghavi to review security in villages along India-Pakistan border in Kutch today

In Bhuj, Gujarat, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi and a team of 30 senior police officers will head to villages along the India‑Pakistan border on Thursday. The trip is a hands‑on review of the area’s security conditions and development needs.
Sanghavi will arrive early at the Circuit House, then meet village leaders (Sarpanches), local women, youth, and ordinary citizens. Discussions will cover everyday concerns—health, education, roads, sanitation, and how well security forces keep the border safe.
The delegation plans a “khatla” at night, a casual meet‑up with villagers to hear their stories and give feedback on government projects. A key part of the visit is an official meeting with Border Security Force (BSF) officers stationed on the frontier. The purpose is to talk about patrol operations, anti‑national threats, and everyday challenges faced by men and women who guard the strip.
To show solidarity, Sanghavi and the officers will stay overnight in local Bhungas—traditional mud houses—rather than government lodges. This gesture underlines the government’s commitment to living the daily reality of border villagers.
Why is the region so important? Gujarat shares a 508‑km border with Pakistan, stretching through the Kutch district and along the Arabian Sea. The mix of desert, the wetlands of the Rann of Kutch, and a long coastline makes the area prone to infiltration, smuggling and other illegal activity. The state also hosts defence installations, major ports and energy projects that must stay protected.
A strong border keeps India safe, curbs terrorism, and protects the livelihoods of people who live on the front line. The visit is expected to sharpen security plans, improve infrastructure, and ensure that local communities feel heard and supported.
The delegation’s outreach reflects a broader strategy: involve seniors from law enforcement and the state government to gain ground‑level insight, then translate that insight into better public services and safer borders.
