Infosys, the Bangalore‑based IT firm, landed a 1.2 billion‑pound, 15‑year contract with the UK’s NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) to build a new workforce platform for England and Wales.

The deal will replace the current Electronic Staff Record (ESR) system and manage payroll for 1.9 million NHS staff, who earn a total of about 55 billion pounds each year.

NHSBSA chief executive Michael Brodie said the new “Future NHS Workforce Solution” is a key part of the 10‑Year Health Plan. He added that the system will be more than a replacement for ESR – it will help the NHS attract, keep, and support its workforce.

Infosys earned the contract after a tough procurement process. Decision makers praised the company’s track record in large‑scale digital transformation, its focus on user‑centric design, and its commitment to high‑quality operations.

The new platform will run on modern, data‑driven technology and cover the full employee journey—from hiring and onboarding to payroll, career growth, and retirement. Infosys’ AI engine, Infosys Topaz, will be a core part of the solution, boosting efficiency now and preparing the NHS for future challenges.

Infosys CEO and Managing Director Salil Parekh said the project is a momentous opportunity. “The NHS is a cornerstone of life in the UK, touching millions daily,” he noted. “We’re honoured to deliver generational change for NHS staff across England and Wales through this platform.”

NHSBSA, an independent body of the Department of Health and Social Care, supplies vital services to NHS organizations, contractors, patients, and the public. The Future NHS Workforce Solution aims to strengthen the NHS’s workforce for the next decade.
