Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav met with BJP national president and Union Health Minister J. P. Nadda in New Delhi on Wednesday and asked him to inaugurate the foundation stones for four new medical colleges in the state. The meeting took place at Parliament in the late evening, with Indore MP Shankar Lalvani standing beside Yadav.
According to a statement to LatestNewsX, the colleges will be set up under a Public‑Private Partnership (PPP) framework in the districts of Panna, Katni, Dhar and Betul. “I have requested Union Health Minister J. P. Nadda to lay the foundation stones of four new medical colleges. He has accepted our invitation and will visit Madhya Pradesh by the last week of December,” the Chief Minister said.
The government has earmarked 25 acres for each site, purchasing the land at a nominal price of just Rs 1. Earlier this year the state cabinet approved a land‑allotment policy aimed at attracting investors, and reforms were introduced to allow district hospitals to be transferred to the new PPP medical institutions.
The visit came a day after Yadav convened a special review meeting covering five ministries, including Public Health and Family Welfare. The health department, headed by Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla, has come under scrutiny following incidents such as the Coldrif cough syrup tragedy in Chhindwara and a case of rat infestation at M. Y. Hospital in Indore.
