Delhi CM opens 502 Anganwadis, announces Rs 10 crore loan for MSME business women

Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Boosts Women Empowerment with New Anganwadi Centres and Big Loans

In a big move to empower working women in Delhi, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launched 502 refurbished Anganwadi-cum-creche centres on Thursday. These centres will provide safe daycare for kids, letting mothers focus on their jobs without worry. She also announced collateral-free loans of up to Rs 10 crore for women entrepreneurs in the MSME sector to kickstart their businesses.

"We aim to turn Delhi into a shining model for other states," Gupta said during the event. The government is redesigning these daycare facilities to better support working mothers. In a heartwarming touch, Anganwadi workers will now be called ‘Mausis’ – a term that means maternal aunt in Hindi, symbolizing the loving care they’ll give to children like their own family.

"No more Anganwadi workers – from now on, they’re Mausis who will nurture kids with the affection of a sister," the CM explained. These Palna Anganwadi-cum-creche centres focus on nutrition, play, and safety for young children, helping busy moms balance work and home life.

Sharing her excitement on X (formerly Twitter), Gupta posted: "Launching these 502 centres brings peace to hardworking mothers’ lives. They ensure proper nutrition and care for little ones, so moms can chase their dreams worry-free." She timed the inauguration during Seva Pakhwada, marking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday as a special gift to Delhi’s women. "These centres will be a strong support for child nutrition and help mothers manage jobs and duties," she added.

Big Boost for Women Entrepreneurs in Delhi

Gupta didn’t stop there. She unveiled a new MSME scheme offering women up to Rs 10 crore in loans without any collateral or security. "This government-backed guarantee will empower women to start businesses and achieve self-reliance," she said. The initiative aims to fuel women entrepreneurship in Delhi, giving them the financial strength to turn ideas into reality.

"This step strengthens women’s path to self-employment and economic independence," the CM emphasized.

Delhi’s Push for Electric Public Transport

Earlier in the day, Gupta highlighted the Delhi government’s green plans. She joined the 26th SAFE Annual Convention 2025 and the 3rd SIAM Green Plate EV Rally at India Mandapam. "We’re committed to a clean, green Delhi," she posted on X. The rally spreads awareness about electric vehicles (EVs) and gets people involved in the shift.

"Our target: Make all public transport in Delhi fully electric by 2026," Gupta wrote. This move will cut pollution, improve air quality, and make daily commutes healthier and easier for millions of residents.

With these steps, Delhi’s women and environment are set for a brighter future. Stay tuned for more updates on women empowerment schemes and green initiatives in Delhi.
