Science innovation accelerates development: MP Minister

In Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh Urban Development and Housing Minister Kailash Vijayavargiya praised the state government’s efforts to boost science education and innovation among students. He shared these thoughts during the closing ceremony of the 12th Bhopal Science Fair, held at Barkatullah University on Monday.
As the chief guest and a senior BJP leader, Vijayavargiya told the crowd of students and professors that science drives faster development for the country. The event came together thanks to organizers like Vigyan Bharati’s Madhya Bharat Chapter, the Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and Technology, and Barkatullah University.
Vijayavargiya pointed out how both the central and state governments back scientific institutions with strong support. “We’ve rolled out many initiatives to spark interest in science and technology,” he said. “Lakhs of students across India are already reaping the benefits from these programs.”
He brought up the COVID-19 pandemic as a prime example. Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged Indian scientists to step up, and they delivered. “India didn’t just create effective medicines and vaccines—we showed the world our scientific strength,” Vijayavargiya added. “We vaccinated our people and even sent doses to countries in need.”
The minister also celebrated India’s strides in defence research over the past 11 years. The country has grown much more self-reliant in building its own defence equipment, reducing dependence on imports.
Vijayavargiya highlighted India’s ancient wisdom too, noting how Ayurveda is winning fans worldwide. “Many countries now embrace Ayurveda for its natural healing power,” he said.
He encouraged the young audience to get creative with science, urging them to apply it in fresh ways. Eminent scientist and former director Shankar Vinayak Nakhe also spoke at the event, sharing insights on innovation.
On another note, Vijayavargiya pushed for organic and natural farming in Madhya Pradesh. He warned that chemical fertilizers have harmed the soil over time and called on residents to switch to sustainable methods for healthier agriculture.
