Mumbai, Nov 5 (Reuters) — Indian television star Shoaib Ibrahim used his social‑media feed to give fans an update about his wife, actress Dipika Kakar, who is battling stage‑2 liver cancer.
In a recent post, Ibrahim told followers that the couple had just drawn blood at the hospital. “We went in yesterday to get blood samples. We’re supposed to come every few months, then every two months. The results should be in tomorrow,” he wrote. He added that this time of year is the most frightening for them and expressed hope that the doctor’s news will be positive. A quick glance at Dipika’s own comments shows a mix of hope and fear in her eyes.
Kakar has been publicly sharing her fight with cancer since a diagnosis disclosed last year. The hit‑show actress, best known for her role in Sasural Simar Ka, underwent tumor‑removal surgery in June after doctors found cancer in her liver. She began chemotherapy shortly after the operation and has kept fans in the loop through her YouTube channel, where she shares daily updates, her treatment plan, and the emotional ups and downs of her journey.
The couple’s life is now driven by routine medical checks and the health of their two‑year‑old son, Ruhaan. In a recent vlog, Dipika explained that she had caught a severe viral infection from Ruhaan—a complication of the weakened immune system caused by her cancer treatment. “Because I’m on chemo, my immunity is low, which made the infection worse. The doctor told us to call immediately if I felt any fever or viral symptoms, and we got strong antibiotics and anti‑allergy medication,” she said. “It’s a heavy load for my body to handle.”
The couple runs their own YouTube channels and is known for sharing everything—from joyous milestones to painful setbacks. Their openness has earned them a loyal audience who follow every development. As their medical team prepares the next set of blood reports, fans remain hopeful that the latest data will bring reassuring news.
