
In New Delhi, the excitement for the first Women’s T20 World Cup – Cricket for the Blind 2025 is building fast. The tournament will kick off on Nov. 11 at Modern School on Barakhamba Road, with six teams ready to compete: India, Australia, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and the United States.
Fresh off India’s win at the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, the country’s top female cricketer, Jemimah Rodrigues, sent a spirited note of support to the blind cricketers. “Wishing you all the very best for the World Cup,” Rodrigues wrote, “I’m cheering for you just like you’ve cheered for us. Bring the World Cup home and then we’ll celebrate together.” The message struck a chord with fans and players, echoing the close bond between mainstream women cricketers and the young women of Team India – Cricket for the Blind.
The event, organized by the Cricket Association for the Blind (CABI) with the Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled, is a landmark step in inclusive cricket. It showcases the skill, perseverance, and national pride of blind athletes and offers a platform for them to shine on the world stage.
Team India’s squad features nine players in the B1, B2, and B3 categories, led by captain Deepika T C. The first match draws teams that have already arrived, including Team USA, while the rest are set to land by Nov. 10 ahead of the opening ceremony.
With its historic blend of sport and inclusion, the Women’s T20 World Cup – Cricket for the Blind 2025 promises to inspire generations and redefine what it means to play cricket in India and beyond.
