Members of Parliament from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) are stepping up to help flood-affected communities in Punjab. They’ve announced plans to use their MPLADS (MP Local Area Development Scheme) funds for flood relief work, showing their strong support for those hit by these natural disasters.

Several MPs traveled to flood-prone areas to assess the damage and coordinate relief efforts. For example, Rajya Sabha member Sandeep Pathak visited Ferozepur and pledged Rs 5 crore from his MPLADS funds to aid flood victims. Similarly, Raghav Chadha went to Gurdaspur and announced Rs 3.60 crore for relief work.

Fellow MP Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal has been actively involved in local relief efforts for days. He announced a grant of Rs 50 lakh from his discretionary funds and has set up helpline numbers to assist flood-affected families directly.

Vikramjit Singh Sahney, another Rajya Sabha MP, has committed Rs 5 crore from his MPLADS and philanthropic funds. He’s supporting the purchase of boats and machinery for flood rescue and river cleaning projects. His NGO, Sun Foundation, has already spent over Rs 1 crore on relief supplies like motorboats, ambulances, dry rations, medical kits, and hygiene products for those in need.

Harbhajan Singh, also a Rajya Sabha MP, allocated Rs 30 lakh to buy mobile water tankers and fogging machines to help prevent waterborne diseases. He also released funds for boats—Rs 17.32 lakh for Ferozepur, plus other boats for Kapurthala, Gurdaspur, and Jalandhar to assist rescue operations.

Other MPs are contributing too. Hoshiarpur MP Raj Kumar Chabbewal pledged Rs 50 lakh to strengthen embankments. Sangrur MP Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer allocated Rs 25 lakh for relief efforts in Amritsar, while MP Ashok Kumar Mittal donated Rs 20 lakh for flood relief in the city.

Malvinder Singh Kang, MP of Anandpur Sahib, visited erosion sites along the Sutlej River and released Rs 20 lakh from his MPLADS to reinforce embankments at Bela Tajowal.

These efforts show how MPs from AAP are actively involved in flood relief across Punjab, providing much-needed funds, boats, and support to help communities recover and prepare for future emergencies.
