AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi Slams BJP Over NCERT Syllabus Changes on India Partition

Hyderabad, Telangana: AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi has strongly criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for tweaking the NCERT syllabus, especially for blaming Muslims for the India partition. Speaking to reporters in Hyderabad, Owaisi made it clear that his community isn’t at fault for the 1947 division of the country.

"This BJP government has changed the NCERT syllabus and put the blame on Muslims for the partition," Owaisi said. "We’re not responsible for it! Savarkar was the first to demand partition, Mountbatten carried it out, and the Congress leaders of that time agreed to it. So why point fingers at us?"

He didn’t stop there. Owaisi also pointed out that the syllabus now skips key details about Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination. "You’ve even removed from NCERT why Nathuram Godse killed Mahatma Gandhi," he added, calling it a major omission in Indian history lessons.

This row comes right after NCERT rolled out new modules for Partition Horrors Remembrance Day. These updates highlight Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Congress leaders, and British Viceroy Lord Mountbatten as the main figures behind the painful split of India and Pakistan. The changes aim to teach students the "real facts" about this tragic chapter, but they’ve sparked fresh debates on how history is taught in schools.

The controversy ties into broader political jabs. Just last month, on August 17, Assam Assembly Deputy Speaker Numal Momin, a senior BJP figure, took a sharp dig at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. "Rahul Gandhi is the new avatar of Jinnah," Momin told . "He’s playing the same divisive role. Jinnah first demanded partition, Congress accepted it, and Mountbatten made it happen. These are the real culprits who tore our country apart."

Momin went on to accuse the Congress party of always trying to divide India. He slammed Rahul Gandhi for allegedly badmouthing the country during foreign trips, saying his "ideology and vision" threaten India’s culture, heritage, and unity. "This is a dangerous situation—people like him live here and damage our global image," Momin added.

As NCERT syllabus changes on India partition stir up emotions, Owaisi’s outburst highlights the ongoing tussle over how to remember this dark period in Indian history. With keywords like Jinnah’s role, Congress responsibility, and BJP’s education reforms making headlines, the debate shows no signs of cooling down.
