Kolkata, Dec 6 (LatestNewsX) – The All India Secular Front (AISF) said it is willing to consider a conditional partnership with the new political outfit that the currently‑suspended Trinamool Congress MLA from Bharatpur, Humayun Kabir, intends to launch this month in the minority‑heavy district of Murshidabad.
During a Saturday briefing, the AISF’s sole representative in the West Bengal assembly, Naushad Siddiqui, told reporters that the party would not move forward with any agreement until Kabir “refrains from making communal statements from time to time. He should also withdraw the communal statements that he made before the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.” Only after those conditions were met would the possibility of an electoral alliance be opened for discussion.
Just before the 2024 parliamentary elections, Kabir had boasted at a public gathering that Hindus in Murshidabad would be “cut and thrown into the Bhagirathi River.” He has already announced that he will resign as the Bharatpur legislator and that on December 22 he will officially launch his new party, naming its office bearers.
Asked whether the AISF could benefit from a split in minority votes in light of Kabir’s suspension, Siddiqui insisted that his party does not target voters on religious lines. “We only speak about larger public interests. In West Bengal, neither the Hindus nor the Muslims are happy under Trinamool Congress rule. Now, Mamata Banerjee is busy constructing temples to lure Hindu voters, Kabir has been suspended from the party not because of ideological reasons, but again to allure the Hindu voters. But our Hindu brothers will not be tricked by such stances. At the same time, a large section of the Muslim voters has made up their minds to throw Trinamool Congress out of power in 2026,” Siddiqui stated.
