Ajmer Dargah Leader Condemns Violence Against Hindus in Bangladesh; Urges Respect for All Faiths

Jaipur, Dec. 27 – In a statement issued on Saturday, Syed Naseruddin Chishty, who has taken over as the chief of the Ajmer Dargah, condemned the recent attacks on Hindu civilians in Bangladesh as “unacceptable.” He expressed that such acts run counter to Islam’s core values of peace, humanity, and justice.

Chishty praised the international recognition of India’s commitment to coexistence, noting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has received top civilian honors in several Muslim-majority countries. “These accolades reflect not only the Prime Minister’s personal achievements but also the pride of the entire nation,” he said. “Every time the Prime Minister is honored abroad, it signals respect for India as a whole.”

The leader described the reports of violence emerging from Bangladesh as deeply disturbing. “Killing innocent people and targeting any community can never be justified under any circumstances,” he stated. In a direct appeal to the Bangladeshi government, Chishty urged that if Islam is truly the guiding principle, then that faith must be demonstrated in concrete actions. “Islam teaches humanity, peace, and justice,” he reiterated. “Targeting any minority community for any reason is completely wrong. It is the responsibility of the government to ensure the safety and security of every citizen, irrespective of religion or community.”

Chishty warned that Bangladesh could be exploited as a tool against India in a larger conspiracy, a possibility he said could jeopardize regional peace and brotherhood. He called on Bangladeshi leaders to take decisive measures to prevent further escalation, emphasizing the importance of upholding peace, justice, and humanity.

On the topic of India’s heritage, Chishty highlighted the country’s long tradition of religious and cultural harmony. He said that religious occasions in India serve as platforms for cultural enrichment, social cohesion, and mutual respect among diverse traditions. “This Ganga‑Jamuni sentiment has always been India’s identity and continues to strengthen social harmony,” he noted.

He concluded by expressing optimism over India’s continued progress and growing global recognition as a strong and respected nation. “This reflects India’s commitment to mutual brotherhood and respect for all religions, which is why the world looks upon India with admiration,” he added.
