In Patna on Friday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited Bihar’s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at his official house to keep the state’s election plans on track. The leaders talked about the upcoming Bihar Assembly polls, the NDA campaign strategy and how the parties will share seats. The chat lasted about 15 minutes.
JD(U) national working‑president Sanjay Kumar Jha, who was in the meeting as well, said the talks were friendly and everything inside the NDA is running smoothly. He added that the parties have already locked in the seat‑sharing plan and announced candidates for all 243 seats.
Jha noted, “Amit Shah just started campaigning today from Saran, while Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is heading to Jagdishpur in Bhojpur for rallies.” He also warned against the Grand Alliance, calling it disorganized. “Their seat‑sharing is unclear. They give symbols to candidates and then pull them back. The alliance is breaking apart – they’re fighting each other instead of helping Bihar’s voters,” Jha said.
When asked about Amit Shah’s comments on the NDA’s “face” in the polls, Jha clarified that the remarks were taken out of context. “Shah said Nitish Kumar is the NDA’s leader in this election. He’s our face in Bihar, and we’re contesting under his leadership,” he explained.
According to the NDA seat‑sharing arrangement, the BJP and JD(U) will contest 101 seats each. The Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) led by Chirag Paswan will field 29 candidates. Hindustani Awam Morcha, headed by Jitan Ram Manjhi, will contest 6 seats, and Rashtriya Lok Morcha, led by Upendra Kushwaha, will also contest 6 seats.
