Union Home Minister Amit Shah heads to Chhattisgarh’s Bastar region on October 4 for a mix of cultural festivities and key security talks. Local leaders, including the area’s Member of Parliament, the Bastar Dussehra Committee president, and tribal chiefs called Manjhis, invited him to join these events.
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma, who also oversees home affairs in Chhattisgarh, shared details of Shah’s packed schedule. Shah plans to dive into Bastar Dussehra celebrations by attending the Muria Darbar, a lively traditional tribal council. There, he’ll share a meal with respected tribal priests like the Manjhi, Gayta, and Perma. This move highlights the government’s push to connect with indigenous communities and honor their rich cultural heritage.
After the council gathering, Shah will stop by the Swadeshi Mela in Jagdalpur. This bustling fair spotlights local handicrafts, native products, and traditional arts from the region. His visit should give a big lift to artisans and spotlight Bastar’s self-reliant economy.
Beyond the celebrations, Shah’s trip packs a strategic punch. He will meet top security force leaders in Bastar to review efforts against Naxal violence and map out plans to wipe out the insurgency. Sharma noted the government’s bold goal: end the Naxalite threat by March 31, 2026.
Bastar has long faced challenges from Naxal activity, so Shah’s presence signals strong support for peace, growth, and fair governance that includes tribal welfare. Local leaders and tribal reps are gearing up for the visit with high hopes for positive steps forward.
