Indian border guards have struck another blow against drug smugglers along the Punjab frontier. Troops from the Border Security Force (BSF) foiled smuggling attempts in Amritsar and Tarn Taran districts, seizing a hefty 3.165 kilograms of Ice drug— a potent form of methamphetamine— during a raid near Burj village in Amritsar.
The operation kicked off on October 1, based on solid intelligence tips. BSF Punjab Frontier shared details on X (formerly Twitter), highlighting how their alert teams thwarted cross-border narco-terror efforts. In a separate bust in Tarn Taran, BSF personnel teamed up with Punjab Police to recover a DJI Mavic 4 Pro drone loaded with 580 grams of heroin from a field near Dal village.
These seizures underscore the BSF’s ongoing battle against Pakistani smugglers who use drones to sneak narcotics into India. “These recoveries reaffirm BSF’s relentless vigilance,” the force stated in their update.
This isn’t the first time. Just days earlier, BSF stopped multiple smuggling bids across Amritsar, Tarn Taran, and Ferozepur districts. They nabbed three suspects and recovered more heroin along with another drone. In one case near Kalsian village in Tarn Taran, troops caught a smuggler with 560 grams of heroin.
Back in September, BSF and Punjab Police broke up a big heroin shipment on the Gurdaspur border, arresting four narco-smugglers in the process. As drug smuggling via drones ramps up along the Punjab border, these quick actions show India’s security forces staying one step ahead in the fight against cross-border narcotics.
