Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu took swift action on Monday to ensure farmers don’t face any urea shortage. He directly called Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilisers J.P. Nadda to discuss fertiliser allotment for the state.

Naidu specifically requested seven rakes of urea from a ship arriving at Kakinada port. The Union Minister gave a positive response, promising to help with the urea supply. This quick coordination highlights the government’s focus on supporting Andhra Pradesh farmers amid ongoing fertiliser demands.

During a review meeting at the secretariat, Naidu stressed that no farmer should suffer due to lack of urea. Officials updated him that the state currently has 80,503 tonnes of fertilisers in stock, with another 23,592 tonnes of urea expected to arrive in the next 10 days. Naidu warned of strict action against anyone involved in black marketing of urea and directed officials to plan ahead for smooth supplies during the upcoming rabi season.

Just a few days earlier, on September 3, Naidu had denied any urea shortage in Andhra Pradesh. He cautioned that those spreading fake news about fertiliser scarcity would face serious consequences. He urged farmers not to fall for the YSR Congress Party’s false campaigns, which he accused of creating panic among farmers just to gain political advantage.

Shifting to other key issues, Naidu addressed the falling onion prices. He instructed officials to arrange purchases of onions directly from farmers at Rs 1200 per quintal, providing much-needed relief to growers facing market challenges.

In agricultural updates, officials reported pest issues in coffee plantations across 80 acres in the Araku region. The good news? They have successfully controlled the pests on 60 acres, showing proactive efforts to protect crops.

Naidu also reviewed the health situation in Turakapalem village, Guntur district. He ordered round-the-clock monitoring by officials to keep things under control and prevent any escalation.

Finally, during a session on the Real Time Governance Society (RTGS), Naidu pushed for better public satisfaction with welfare programmes. He highlighted initiatives like free travel for women, pensions, and free gas cylinders, urging officials to prioritise effective delivery of these government services. Naidu announced he would personally review the implementation of these welfare schemes every week to ensure they reach the people without delays.
