Indian Army troops are pushing forward with an anti-terrorist operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district, where they clashed with militants late Friday night. At the same time, security forces uncovered a cache of weapons and ammunition in a separate raid in Poonch district.
The Nagrota-based White Knight Corps, part of the Indian Army, shared updates on X (formerly Twitter). In Kishtwar, alert soldiers made contact with terrorists around 8 p.m. on September 19 during an intelligence-led mission. Gunfire erupted, and the operation is still underway as forces hunt down the suspects.
Over in Poonch, troops from the White Knight Corps teamed up with Jammu and Kashmir Police for a joint search. They recovered one AK-series rifle, four AK magazines, 20 hand grenades, and other war-like stores. That search operation continues too.
These actions fit into a broader crackdown by joint forces in Jammu and Kashmir. They’re targeting not just terrorists but also their overground workers (OGWs), sympathizers, drug smugglers, and hawala money operators. Intelligence agencies believe drug trafficking and hawala rackets fund terrorist activities in the union territory (UT).
This revamped strategy aims to break down the entire terror network in Jammu and Kashmir. Many of these smuggling routes trace back across the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB), according to officials.
Jammu and Kashmir spans a 240-kilometer IB along Jammu, Kathua, and Samba districts, guarded by the Border Security Force (BSF). The 740-kilometer LoC runs through Baramulla, Kupwara, and Bandipora in the Kashmir Valley, plus Poonch and Rajouri in Jammu, with the Indian Army on watch.
