Mumbai, Nov 17 – Maharashtra’s Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis told state officials to speed up the hiring and promotion process in government jobs. He said the administration must issue appointment letters to successful candidates within four days after exam results are announced, following the proper protocol.
The CM also set a clear target for promotions: 75 percent of available promotion slots should be filled by the end of January each year. “Promotions matter to every officer and employee,” Fadnavis said. “Once we give a promotion, people grow in responsibility, so departments need to deliver on this promise.”
During a meeting on “Good Governance Re‑Engineering,” Fadnavis urged every department to actively participate in reforms and rank themselves on promotion performance. Departments falling behind must catch up quickly and highlight their achievements.
Key points from the meeting:
- Fast‑track appointments – Issue new appointment letters within four days of exam results.
- 75 percent promotion target – Reach this quota by the end of January every year.
- Regular training – Departments should run continuous training programs, tailored to current needs, under a unified training hub.
- Updated appointment rules – Review and update job specifications so they match present responsibilities and avoid last‑minute changes.
- Digital services – Launch the “Aaple Sarkar 2.0” portal to make all government services accessible and prompt for citizens.
- Empower local centers – Strengthen Aaple Sarkar Kendras and Setu Kendras to improve service delivery at the grassroots level.
- Reform participation – Departments must register their involvement in the administrative reforms.
Fadnavis emphasized that these changes aim to create a citizen‑centric, accountable, and efficient government. The CM’s directives are part of Maharashtra’s broader effort to modernise public administration and deliver faster, more transparent services to the people.
