Jaipur, Dec. 27 – Rajasthan’s Chief Minister, Bhajan Lal Sharma, told reporters on Saturday that the state’s Aravalli range is a priceless natural asset that the BJP‑led government will guard fiercely.
The CM made it clear that any attempt to alter the mountains’ natural form will be rejected outright. He instructed the Forest and Environment Department, the Mines Department, the police, and all other relevant agencies to coordinate a joint campaign in the Aravalli districts to fight illegal mining.
“Every department must work together and enforce strict penalties for violations,” Sharma said. The comments were delivered while he chaired a review session of the Forest and Environment and Mines departments at his residence.
The chief minister also confirmed that the state will refuse licences for any new mining operations within the Aravalli belt. He noted that the central government has issued definitive orders that will apply uniformly across the entire range, reinforcing the aim to preserve its natural character and curb irregular activity.
Sharma added that when granting mining leases, the government has adhered to the latest Supreme Court guidelines and the directives of the Central Empowered Committee (CEC), as well as all required environmental safeguards.
He announced the launch of a Rs 250 crore “Green Aravalli Development Project” aimed at rejuvenating the mountains. The scheme will focus on large‑scale plantation across 32,000 hectares in the Aravalli districts to restore vegetation and ecological balance.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Chief Minister’s Office, the Forest and Environment Department, and the Mines Department.
