On September 5, across India including Assam, people celebrated Teachers’ Day to honor the important role of teachers in shaping the future. This day also marks the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, a legendary philosopher, scholar, and the second President of India.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma paid a heartfelt tribute to Dr. Radhakrishnan on this special day. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he said, “Remembering Dr. Radhakrishnan ji on his birthday, which we observe as Teachers’ Day. Across India, we celebrate this day to thank teachers who teach us values and help shape better individuals.”

He emphasized that Teachers’ Day is not just about remembering Dr. Radhakrishnan’s legacy but also about recognizing the hard work of teachers. “They play a crucial role in building our society by guiding and inspiring children,” Sarma added. He urged everyone to remember the qualities Dr. Radhakrishnan stood for—dedication, humility, and responsibility.

Every year on September 5, schools and colleges in Assam and all over India organize events like cultural programs, awards for outstanding teachers, and interactive sessions. In many schools, students even get a chance to act as teachers to show gratitude to their mentors.

Chief Minister Sarma also highlighted the efforts to improve education in Assam. He mentioned that the government aims to upgrade school facilities and keep traditional values alive. He praised teachers working in remote and rural areas, who continue to educate children despite limited resources.

On Teachers’ Day, educators are widely appreciated for their dedication and the positive impact they make on young minds. Sarma said, “Teachers do more than just teach; they shape character and leave a lifelong impression on their students. Their contributions can’t be measured in money but in the lives they touch.”

This special day reminds us all of the noble profession of teaching and the vital role teachers play in society’s growth.
