In Alwar, Rajasthan, Union Minister Bhupender Yadav opened the state’s first Namo Biodiversity Park on Sunday, calling it a “green lung” that will help clean the air and spread environmental awareness. The park, located at Pratap Bandh, is designed to add fresh greenery to the city and inspire visitors to choose greener habits.
Yadav tweeted that the park launch included a planting ceremony with Rajasthan’s state minister, Sanjay Batra. He said the new “NaMo Van” will boost local trees, improve air quality, and encourage tourists and locals alike to adopt eco‑friendly lifestyles.
The project fits into Rajasthan’s broader push for green infrastructure and India’s national plan to protect biodiversity and fight climate change. By turning a stretch of land into a vibrant, biodiverse park, the government hopes to create a lasting impact on both nature and people.
Last week, Yadav planted the country’s one‑millionth tree at Kanha Shanti Vanam, a nature‑center run by the non‑profit Heartfulness. The event celebrated the 70th birthday of the organisation’s guide, Daaji, and was attended by former President Ram Nath Kovind.
In his remarks, Yadav highlighted that while health, education, and gender equality are important, protecting biodiversity is crucial for a balanced world. He reminded everyone that true happiness comes not only from material success but also from living close to nature—an idea echoing Indian yoga traditions that celebrate harmony with the environment.
The Namo Biodiversity Park in Alwar is more than a recreational spot; it’s a symbol of Rajasthan’s commitment to greener living and a call to citizens to support conservation efforts. With projects like this, the state aims to turn its landscape into a healthier, more sustainable place for future generations.
