Controversy erupts over comments made against PM Modi during INDIA Bloc’s rally in Darbhanga A heated controversy has erupted over remarks allegedly made against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother during a rally organized by the INDIA Bloc in Darbhanga, Bihar. The incident has now reached the Jamui court, where a local resident, Satish Chandra Gupta, has filed a criminal complaint. Gupta's complaint names INDIA Bloc leaders Rahul Gandhi, Tejashwi Yadav, and Mukesh Sahani as the main accused. It also includes 100 unidentified individuals. The court will hear the case on September 17. According to Gupta’s lawyer, Brijnandan Singh, the case is filed under several Indian laws, including Sections 61(1)(2), 62, 356, 351, and 553 of the Bhartiya Nyay Sahita (BNS) Act. Singh claimed that during the rally, many supporters from the INDIA Bloc used abusive language against PM Modi and his late mother from the stage. He argued this hurt the feelings of millions of Indians. The lawyer pointed out that Rahul Gandhi, Tejashwi Yadav, and Mukesh Sahani are responsible because the offensive comments were made from their event platform in their presence. Singh emphasized that such remarks are serious and could be considered cognizable offenses. He also said, “Narendra Modi is a democratically elected Prime Minister. Making such personal insults goes against the values of Indian democracy.” The incident took place at a public meeting in Darbhanga, attended by several political leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav. During the rally, a man named Mohammad Rizvi, also known as Raza, used offensive words against PM Modi and his late mother from the stage. The video of this incident went viral on social media, sparking widespread criticism. Rizvi was later arrested from Singhwada block in Darbhanga. Following the controversy, the BJP’s Bihar unit called for a statewide bandh to protest against the INDIA Bloc’s alleged disrespectful remarks. Senior BJP leaders, including Dilip Jaiswal, Ravi Shankar Prasad, and Tarkishore Prasad, staged protests in the streets to voice their dissent. This incident has sparked a major political debate in Bihar, raising questions about political language and respect during public events.
