Bihar Congress holds election committee meet in Patna

Bihar Congress Gears Up for Assembly Elections: Key Meeting in Patna Signals Big Changes

Patna’s political scene heated up on Thursday as the Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC) gathered at Sadaqat Ashram for a crucial State Election Committee meeting. The focus? Crafting a smart strategy for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections and picking the right candidates to take on the competition.

What caught everyone’s eye was Independent MP Rajesh Ranjan, better known as Pappu Yadav, sitting right there with the top brass. Pappu Yadav has always had ties to the Congress but often felt sidelined. Now, his spot at the table hints at a bigger role in the party’s Bihar election plans. Political insiders see this as a clear sign that Congress wants to leverage his influence to boost their chances.

The meeting brought together heavyweights like Bihar Congress in-charge Krishna Allavaru, Rajya Sabha MP Akhilesh Singh, BPCC President Rajesh Ram, Legislative Party Leader Shakeel Ahmed Khan, and former state president Madan Mohan Jha. Congress MPs, MLAs, MLCs, state secretaries, and leaders from various party wings also joined in. This 39-member group dove into screening potential candidates and mapping out an early roadmap for the Bihar state elections.

Pappu Yadav’s prominent presence isn’t happening in isolation. It comes alongside preparations for the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting in Patna – a first for Bihar – and heated talks on candidate selection. All this shows Congress is ramping up its election push in the state.

Right after this session, the party heads to Delhi on September 19 for a Screening Committee meeting to lock in names for the first phase of candidates. Sources reveal the Congress high command has given clear instructions: Focus on popularity, social dynamics, and real chances of winning when choosing candidates for the Bihar Assembly polls.

The big CWC meeting hits Patna on September 24, with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, and other senior leaders in attendance. Party insiders say the agenda covers hot topics like "vote theft," issues with voter lists, and the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. This gathering looks like a game-changer, helping Congress fine-tune its strategy to make a strong mark in the Bihar elections.

With these moves, the Indian National Congress is clearly stepping up its game in Bihar’s political arena. Stay tuned as more details emerge on candidate picks and election tactics.
