Political parties in Bihar are gearing up for the 2025 Assembly elections as they pick up the final voter list from the Election Commission of India. On Tuesday evening, district leaders and representatives from major outfits like RJD, CPI-ML, Congress, and JDU grabbed both printed and digital copies of the updated Bihar voter rolls under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2025.
District Election Officers (DEOs) across the state hosted meetings to hand out the data and clear up questions from party officials. This step ensures everyone has the latest info on eligible voters ahead of the polls.
In Sitamarhi district, RJD chief Gauhar Shamim shared that the voter count jumped from 23.22 lakh in the August draft to 24.50 lakh in the final list. CPI-ML district secretary Nayaz Ahmed Siddiqui gave a thumbs up to the numbers and praised the transparent process.
Over in Gaya, CPI-ML’s Niranjan Kumar noted that the DEO delivered final lists for all 10 assembly constituencies. Congress vice-president Samir Anwar Khan broke down the gender stats: 15.63 lakh men, 14.06 lakh women, and 36 others, highlighting efforts to boost female voter participation in Bihar.
Bhojpur saw a similar gathering at the DEO office in Ara, with reps from RJD, CPI-ML, JDU, and Congress attending. RJD’s Manmohan Kumar, aka Mantu Sharma, confirmed the list now covers all seven local constituencies. CPI-ML’s Dildar Kirat picked up the copies there too. JDU spokesperson Shambhu Prasad Soni and Congress media in-charge Virendra Mishra thanked the DEO team for delivering an error-free and trustworthy Bihar voter list.
In Banka, RJD president Upul Prasad Thakur received the rolls and thanked the DEO and staff. “We appreciate the hard work of Electoral Registration Officers and Booth Level Officers in creating this clean, reliable voter list,” he said.
Statewide, Bihar’s final voter tally now stands at 7.42 crore, a rise from 7.24 crore in the draft. Officials added 21.53 lakh new names and removed 3.66 lakh duplicates or ineligible ones. The Supreme Court kept a close watch on the SIR 2025 drive, aimed at cleaning up rolls and including more eligible voters for fair Bihar Assembly elections.
