Patna, Dec 9 – The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) arrested Sanjay Kumar Prabhat, a long‑time resident of Sheikhpura and an active member of the Sanjeev Mukhiya gang, on Gola Road in Patna.
Prabhat was seized on 8 December 2025 and taken to jail the following day. EOU officials confirmed they had been monitoring him for an extended period.
He is the son of Ram Lakhan Prasad and has a history of involvement in several exam‑leak cases. The police allege that he charged roughly ₹1 lakh from each candidate in exchange for leaked questions in the BPSC TRE 3.0 exam on 15 March 2024. He was listed as a suspect in the Economic Offences Police Station case No. 06/2024, tied to the TRE‑3 leak.
During interrogation, Prabhat admitted to amassing considerable illicit assets by distributing question papers for a range of competitive exams. He also claimed to have collected admit cards from candidates and promised them inside‑center accommodations.
The EOU is now scrutinising the money trail and other information that surfaced during questioning. After Prabhat’s interrogation, authorities plan to confront Sanjeev Mukhiya, who currently holds bail in the NEET‑UG paper‑leak case.
As the nodal unit of the Bihar Police tasked with ensuring fairness in competitive exams, the EOU has stepped up raids across the state ahead of the Driver Constable Recruitment exam on 10 December 2025 and the Enforcement Sub‑Inspector exam on 14 December 2025. The broader operation targets organised rings that facilitate exam fraud.
Prabhat is also named in the TSEAMCET 2016 leak case, which the Hyderabad CID is investigating, and in the All India Pre‑Medical Test 2016 leak case, under police station at Ramnagar, Haldwani, Nainital, Uttarakhand.
To date, 289 suspects linked to the TRE‑3 paper leak have been detained. Additional raids are ongoing to nab the remaining people on the list, and investigations continue.
